Solomon’s Masonic Learning

About Us

Mission Statement

The mission of the Masonic Education Committee of Solomon Lodge No. 822 is to assist the Master in the development of Masonic education programs to set the Craft to work, giving them good and wholesome instruction for their labors as directed within the designs upon the Trestle Board. The Committee shall also prepare programs and present information which develop moral, intellectual and social character and which explain, instruct and demonstrate Masonic ideals, principles and activities and how Freemasonry improves the quality of life for our members, their families and their communities. It is our ultimate mission to promote Masonry through Masonic education and learning in a way that attracts new members, inspires existing members to be active and continue their Masonic education, bringing value to their communities, instilling pride in the Lodge, and create interaction with the entire Masonic Family.

Vision Statement

The vision of the Masonic Education Committee of Solomon Lodge No. 822 is to promote a way of life that binds like-minded men in a worldwide brotherhood that transcends all religious, ethnic, cultural, social and educational differences; by teaching the great principles of brotherly love, relief and truth; and, by the outward expression of these through its fellowship, to find ways in which to serve God, family, country, neighbors and self. It is our vision to develop programs that help Brethren discover a path to finding answers to life’s questions. Using various forms of education we hope to enable members to seek answers along their personal journey to becoming a better man.

Education Committee

The Solomon Lodge Education Committee was formed to assist the Master in the development of Masonic education programs for the Lodge, to assist in the coordination and scheduling of speakers to present programs in the Lodge, and to provide educational materials and information to new members and Lodge officers. Under the direction and guidance of the Master, the Committee Chairman acts as the Lodge representative for all matters relating to Masonic education. He is responsible for informing the Brethren of the wealth of Masonic education resources available to them and instructing the Brethren in all areas of Masonic education.

Solomon's Masonic Learning (SML) was codified by Bro. Cameron Davis in the winter of 2021 as a virtual learning environment. Its development and creation spawned as a result of reoccurring meeting restrictions that surrounded the coronavirus 2019 pandemic. The intent behind SML is to provide an environment not only safe from the pandemic but also as a place where resident and non-resident members can fraternally meet and grow together.

The name derives from a computation of connections. According to biblical tradition, King Solomon was renowned for his wisdom, his prolific writings, and his building accomplishments such as "Solomon's Temple". Solomon Lodge sharing the name of King Solomon, wisdom being gained through experience and learning, and the widely known connection between Freemasons and Solomon's Temple made Solomon's Masonic Learning a fitting name.
